JESSICA CHRISTIAN studied the history of art at the Universities of Edinburgh and St Andrews (where she was a Carnegie Scholarship holder). She subsequently worked for the National Trust for Scotland until she married and moved to Oxfordshire. This heralded a return to pre-university painting studies, and she now combines painting and exhibiting with working as a freelance art historian. Previous publications have been about Paul Sandby’s years with the Military Survey of Scotland in the mid-eighteenth century, and the island of Iona’s appeal to artists from the mid-eighteenth to mid-twentieth centuries.
